Maria Paschalidou

Η Μαρία Πασχαλίδου γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1966. Από το 1999 έως το 2005 έζησε στο Σικάγο, Η.Π.Α., όπου ολοκλήρωσε τις Μεταπτυχιακές της Σπουδές (M.F.A., Columbia College Chicago, 2005) στη Φωτογραφία, Ψηφιακή Εικόνα και Video. Έργα της έχουν παρουσιαστεί σε εκθέσεις στην Ευρώπη, Η.Π.Α., Καναδά, Ρωσία και Αυστραλία. Επιμελήθηκε τις διεθνείς εκθέσεις: Ekecheiria (Schopf Gallery On Lake, Σικάγο 2004) και The Art of Artist Statement (Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center, Σικάγο 2005-συνεπιμέλεια). Στην Αθήνα επιμελήθηκε και συμμετείχε στο project Visibility (Δημόσια δράση καλλιτεχνών, Λαϊκή Αγορά Πλατείας Αττικής – Εγκατάσταση, γκαλερί Cheap Art, Αθήνα 2007).

Maria Paschalidou (b. Athens, Greece, 1966), attained a M.F.A. in photography, digital imaging and video (Columbia College Chicago, U.S., 2005). Her artwork has been presented in exhibitions in Europe, U.S., Canada, Russia and Australia, among others: Strange Screen, Thessaloniki Cinema Museum (2007), Public Screen; parallel project of the 1st Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (2007), Nuit Blanche Toronto 06 (Canada, 2006), 2nd International Biennial for Contemporary Art (Bulgaria, 2006), When the Other appears on the Scene, National Gallery of Arts (Tirana, Albania, 2006), Blind Date #12, PALCO (Athens, 2006), Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, The University of Chicago (2005), ArtExpo International Video Art Festival (Bari, 2005), International Digital Art Award 2005 (Melbourne, Australia, 2005), She Snap, Schopf Gallery On Lake (Chicago, 2004), The Other Body, Eugenides Foundation (Athens, 2004), Digital Dumbo 2002, D.U.M.B.O Arts Center (New York, 2002), Self-Portraits, Cultural Capital of Europe (Thessaloniki, 1997), 9th Photosynkyria (Thessaloniki, 1996), Photography Center of Athens (1992). She curated the international exhibitions: Ekecheiria (Schopf Gallery On Lake, Chicago 2004) and The Art of Artist Statement (Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center, Chicago 2005 – co-curatorial). In Athens, she curated and participated in the Visibility project (public art performance, Street Market of Attiki Square – Installation: Cheap Art Gallery, Athens, 2007).
